Ventura, California fantasy metal warriors Gygax—currently uniting former and current members of Gypsyhawk, Skeletonwitch, Annihilation Time, Huntress, Sorcerer and more—have announced a run of West Coast tour dates for this May with fellow Californians, the ale assassins in Pounder. The news comes as the band is recording its third album for release later in the year. The band announced in a recent Facebook post that the record will be titled “High Fantasy.”
Gygax stormed through 2018 with its second album, “2nd Edition” (review) Drenched in influence from the likes of “Dungeons & Dragons” and Thin Lizzy, the album showcases the band’s musicianship through a fiery onslaught of unavoidably infectious grooves and pristine hooks. Having toured several times on the West Coast, Gygax hit the East Coast over the winter with labelmates Light This City supporting the album.
The new tour will see Gygax and Pounder hitting the West Coast from May 9 through 18, with shows booked in Portland, Seattle, Grant’s Pass, Oakland, Sacramento, San Diego and Los Angeles. Fans can expect to get the first dose of new material from the impending LP.
